These are exciting yet scary times. A major election and the Summer Olympics will
take place in 2008. Cheange is on the way. The country is more restless now than it
has been in a long time.
In the middle of all of this, it's always nice to have a place to turn to for comfort.
WVUD is one of those places. In 2008, WVUD will celebrate 40 years of service. The
station was founded as WHEN on October 21, 1968. The series of call letters include:
WHEN, WDRB, WXDR, and WVUD. Throughout that time we have depended upon your support.
WVUD's unique nature, allows us to make good use of your contributions. Because we
are operated by University of Delaware students and community volunteers, we don't
have to worry about salaries. Your contributions go directly toward improving the
station. Past contributions have allowed us to upgrade our studios and equipment to
serve you better. Additionally, last year's Radiothon contributions allowed us to file
applications for a new station in Georgetown, Delaware and explore ways to improve our
signal broadcast from Newark. It may be years before we see the results of either but
your contributions allow us to explore the possibilities.
Your continued support is essential to the growth of this radio station. It also
allows WVUD to continue to provide cultural forms of music that are disappearing from
the airwaves and to serve as a training ground for young broadcasters. By mailing in
your contribution or pledging online,
you allow us to concentrate on attracting new supporters during our on-air pledge drive
March 7-16, 2008.
If you would like to claim a premium* (our way of saying thank
you) for your contribution, please indicate which premium you
are claiming on the form. Special premiums are announced on
the air during Radiothon. You'll need to call us
during the pledge drive at 302-831-2701 to claim special premiums.
*Premiums match specific contribution levels.
